Tursko til sommeren

Hiking shoes for the summer

The Nordic region offers lovely temperatures in the summer months, but is still characterized by varying weather conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to have shoes that can withstand both rain and moisture, especially for those who spend a lot of time in nature. As we say it best in Norway "Out on a trip - never sad!" Make sure you keep your spirits up on your trip by choosing the best hiking shoes for you and your use.

How to choose hiking boots?

When choosing hiking boots, you should take into account how much ankle stability you need. High hiking boots provide good ankle stability and are suitable for mountain hikes with a heavy pack, while low hiking boots provide less ankle stability and are suitable for lighter hikes. On hot summer days, high hiking boots can get very hot and you should consider how much ankle stability you need. If you are hiking in non-demanding terrain with a light pack, you may only need low hiking boots. Still not sure what type of hiking boots you should choose? Our Ventdry RX1 Shoes are light and you can easily pack them in your bag so that you can change shoes on the trip.

How often should you change hiking boots?

How often you should change your hiking boots depends on how much they have been used and maintained along the way. Asphalt, for example, will wear more on the sole than if you use the shoes in rough forest terrain. You should therefore keep an eye on how much wear the shoes have received through frequent use. A sure sign of changing shoes is when you experience minor injuries even if you have not changed your walking or running pattern.

To maintain your hiking boots for as long as possible, we have collected our best tips:

#1 Impregnate the shoes before use

#2 Air and dry the shoes after each trip

#3 Remove dirt and grime from the surface of the shoes with a cloth after each walk

How to wash hiking boots?

Our hiking boots have a surface consisting of a water-repellent and breathable mesh material. The water-repellent areas can be easily washed with a cloth and warm water. The breathable mesh material is more difficult to wash and we therefore recommend using a washing machine at 30 degrees with low spin to get the whole shoe clean. You should not wash the shoes too often in the washing machine as this can lead to the glue in the shoes being less secure. Therefore, consider whether you can follow the steps on how to maintain the shoes as far as possible opposite.
